There is no one right way to ask for a donation. Some people take great care preparing well-organized and complete presentations. Others prepare with just a few talking points and then use the energy of the prospect to guide the conversation. Some people are energized by the prospect of tying down a gift. For others it is a great act of courage.

What Attendees Said about This Nonprofit Training:
“I attended a number of webinars and this was one of the best. I learned a lot about various asking styles and realized that, based on my style, I am exactly in the right role within my organization. Brian Saber presented an exceptional webinar and I will be exploring more from his website and books. Thank you, CharityHowTo!”
Crystal Parrish, University of Nevada
“This nonprofit course was excellent. Not only did I get a better sense of where I fall in terms of asking style, but it allowed me to rethink how I work with my development colleagues and donors, especially how it relates to their own asking styles.”
Joseph Haverlock, Race Forward
“Brian provided valuable insight on how personality influences asking style and confirmed that various asking styles can be highly effective.”
Cathay Michelsen, Untermyer Gardens Conservancy
“This was a unique way to think about how I interact with donors as a fundraiser. It definitely helped me identify some strengths and weaknesses, and will inform how I engage my team in the fundraising process.”
Samantha Castagna, Philadelphia Works
“Brian is very personable and articulate -- very easy to relate to. One of the benefits is to drop the stereotype and pressure on yourself to be what we imagine every good fundraiser is, and to use your own strengths and talents.”
Julia Ganson, Government Accountability Project
“This was an extremely valuable use of my time. Brian is definitely an expert in the "art of the ask" and was able to cover a lot of useful material in a relatively short amount of time. Very engaging and informative. Thank you!”
“Nonprofits are constantly in a dance when it comes to budgets and funding. So having a source that offers us some free learning opportunities to offset the fee driven ones is so appreciated.”
Carol Latham, Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center.
“I am very new at Fund Raising having the Free Webinar is a great way to see who you would like to delve deeper and be willing to pay for more info. Having limited funds and time it is hard to judge which webinar will benefit the most. This was a great way to see the expertise of the webinar speaker.”
Barbara Freeborn, The Clubhouse for Special Needs, Inc.
“This webinar was very helpful in helping me understand my asking style and how I can utilize this knowledge to my advantage when asking for donations.”
Savannah Mendehall, Jonathan's Place / Kid Net Foundation
“I am a volunteer fundraiser for one non-profit and a community manager/fundraiser for my paid job. This webinar really helped me think about my asking style, and those of others I work with.”
“This was a valuable webinar that I will share with my board. We've talked about the need to increase our fundraising to keep our vision and mission moving forward and I see this as an excellent way to do just that.”
Dave Doolittle, North Central New Mexico Veterans Transportation Network
“I found the information presented helpful in determining (confirming) my communication style as it relates to fundraising and sales presentations. It's always good to hear information presented in different ways at different times in my career path. Thank you for making this webinar available!”
Amy Spain, Washington Hospitality Association
“Absolutely excellent webinar. There are far too many these days that are all fluff and no value. This was the opposite. Packed with helpful tips and information and done in 45 minutes - thank you!”
