Workshop Dates & Times:

Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm EDT

This Workshop is Perfect for you if:

You struggle to find the right people for your Board of Directors, donors, stakeholders, and partners. You won’t want to miss this interactive workshop designed to give structure and intentionality to your relationship development and management.

All business is people business, yet this rings true even more when it comes to nonprofit businesses. The nonprofit sector exists to make our world a better place and we do this by engaging people in solving problems, thinking strategically, raising money, and creating impact. To be successful, we must connect people to our cause. To do that, you must first identify who could or should care, tell great stories, build genuine relationships, recruit and capture them, and engage them in meaningful ways.

Through this workshop, you’ll identify where to find the right donors, volunteers, and advocates for your organization, develop strategies for connecting with them, and gain skills for deepening relationships through listening and telling great stories.

During This Nonprofit workshop, You Will Create:

  • Tools for recruiting your ideal prospects
  • Plans for connecting with potential “friends” of your organization
  • A system for tracking friends of your organization
  • Your roadmap for moving contacts from clueless to casual to connected to committed relationships with your cause
  • Your strategies for building meaningful connections
  • Story outlines that appeal to four different personalities - empaths, big picture, process, and outcomes-minded

During This Nonprofit Workshop, You Will Learn:

  • How to target the right people to draw into your organization
  • How to set clear expectations and hold people accountable
  • How to find the people you need to advance your work
  • How to monitor, manage, and advance your relationships
  • How to deepen engagement
  • How to create a pipeline for organizational volunteers, staff, constituents, donors, partners, stakeholders, and more
  • How to tell stories that appeal to a variety of audiences

During This Nonprofit Workshop, You Will Be Encouraged to:

  • Participate actively in discussions, break-out sessions, and exercises

You’ll Get These BONUS Materials:

  1. A template for understanding and communicating your ideal prospects
  2. One-page guide for establishing expectations
  3. Engagement plan for deepening relationships with prospective “friends” of your organization
  4. Storytelling worksheet for developing multiple messages
  5. The Workshop Slides
  6. The Workshop Recording

About Your Topic Expert:

Kim is specifically qualified to teach this workshop because:

  1. She has spent over 35 years working in and with the nonprofit sector.
  2. She has worked with small - completely volunteer-led organizations; as well as large national agencies, and everything in between.
  3. She has been working to engage volunteers, donors, and communities in helping to make our world a better place for 4 decades.
  4. She has led hundreds of classes, trainings, workshops, webinars, and retreats for adult learners.
  5. Kim is passionate about helping nonprofits expand their reach, engage more people, and amplify their impact.

Kim Stewart is on a mission to help nonprofits "do good" even better. With over 35 years of experience leading organizations of all sizes, she’s a fierce advocate for strong, strategic Boards of Directors that drive real impact. In 2020, Kim traded in her staff role for the chance to serve multiple organizations, launching her consulting practice to help nonprofits build powerhouse governance teams.

As a coach, consultant, trainer, and facilitator, Kim specializes in turning well-meaning but wobbly boards into engaged, high-performing leadership teams. Her deep expertise comes from years of guiding volunteer Boards of Directors with YMCAs across the Midwest and Colorado. She knows firsthand what it takes to recruit, develop, and inspire the right board members—and she’s here to help organizations do just that.

Originally from Iowa, Kim built her business while living in Colorado and now happily splits her time between the two states, with her home base in Des Moines. Her world revolves around her two incredible young adults, Libby and Callahan, who share her love for the outdoors, live music, art, and a good book. Giving back is in her DNA—she serves on the Board of Tri-Lakes Cares and volunteers as a Bike Valet at local events (because who doesn’t love a two-wheeled adventure?)
